MUDRA LOANS

MUDRA LOANS

MUDRA (Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency) loans are government-backed loans designed to provide financial support to micro and small enterprises in India. The MUDRA scheme was launched by the Government of India to promote entrepreneurship and to facilitate the growth of micro-enterprises.

Key features of MUDRA loans include:

  1. Loan Categories: MUDRA loans are classified into three categories based on the stage of growth and funding requirements of the micro-enterprises:

    • Shishu: Loans up to Rs. 50,000
    • Kishore: Loans from Rs. 50,001 to Rs. 5,00,000
    • Tarun: Loans from Rs. 5,00,001 to Rs. 10,00,000
  2. Purpose: MUDRA loans can be used for various purposes, including business expansion, working capital requirements, purchase of equipment, and other business-related needs.

  3. Interest Rates: Interest rates on MUDRA loans are typically lower compared to commercial loans, making them more affordable for micro-enterprises.

  4. Collateral-free: MUDRA loans under the Shishu category (up to Rs. 50,000) are collateral-free, providing easier access to credit for small businesses.

  5. Repayment Period: The repayment period for MUDRA loans can vary based on the category and the terms set by the lending institution. Generally, it ranges from 3 to 5 years.

  6. Application Process: Micro-enterprises can apply for MUDRA loans through various financial institutions, including banks, NBFCs, and MFIs, that are registered under the MUDRA scheme.

  7. Government Support: The MUDRA scheme is supported by the Government of India and aims to provide financial assistance to micro-enterprises across the country.
